Offshore oil and gas exploitation and environmental management
Rostov-on-Don: SSC RAS Publ., 2009. 500 p. ISBN 978-5-902982-68-5.

The monograph based on the results of comprehensive researches in the areas of environmental support marine oil and gas facility and the organization of environmental management in the northern and southern seas of Russia in the condition of activation of production and transportation of petroleum hydrocarbons. New data on the geology of oil and gas structures in the Barents and Kara Seas were given. The effects of source points on marine aquatic organisms for geophysical operates were researched. Biotesting methods of drilling fluids and petroleum hydrocarbons were developed. Experimental researches on marine organisms in the laboratory and natural conditions were conducted. Levels of chemical contamination of sediments in the coastal areas of the Barents Sea were determined. New data of major representatives of marine biota in the areas of exploration and planned oil and gas exploration areas were conducted. A series of applied researches directed at providing environmental safety of marine oil and gas exploration: using of bioactive sorbents for control of accidental oil spills in the Arctic conditions were conducted. Development of mathematical models of oil pollution of the aquatic environment, set up of hydrochemical regime, extension and sedimentation of suspended materials were observed. Creation of algal bio-filter plantation to protect the coastal zone from oil pollution was conducted. The experience of environmental support of large exploration projects and oil and gas transportation in the phases of engineering and environmental researches and EIA (environment impact assessment) were summarized. Methodology and practical schemes for implementation of environmental monitoring in the oil and gas exploration areas was conducted. New technical solutions of GIS usage and oceanography data bases for environmental support of projects are given. Methods and results of environmental assessment of consequences the largest ecological disaster in recent years - tanker accidents in the Kerch Strait.

Recommendations on strategies of environment management in the coastal zone, providing an optimal combination of all marine activities for saving of sustainability of marine ecosystems were developed. The monograph is intended for a wide range of professionals in the field of fundamental hydrobiological and oceanological researches, applied ecology, management of marine natural resources, geoinformatics, as well as can be useful for students, post-graduate students and university lecturers.
The Kola Bay: exploration and environmental management
М.: Nauka, 2009. – 381 p. ISBN 978-5-02-035871-3

The collection contains results of oceanological, hydrobiological and economic-geographical researches of the Kola Bay. Analysis of modern ecological situation at the time of long-term variability of climate processes and a high level of anthropogenic pollutions were conducted. New data on the meteorological conditions, the spatial distribution and seasonal dynamics of planktonic and benthic communities, ecology of introduced red king into the Barents Sea were received. The characteristic of the current statement of marine environmental management in the region of the Kola Bay were given. Recommendations for optimization on the basis of forecasts and scenarios of socio - economic development by 2020 were suggested.

For scientists - oceanologists and hydrobiologiests, marine environment management professionals, students and post-graduate students.
Frolova E.A. Fauna and ecology of polychaetes (Polychaeta) of the Kara Sea.
Apatity: MMBI KSC RAS, 2009. 141 p. 978-5-91137-087-9

The research results of polychaete fauna (Polychaeta, Annelida) of the Kara Sea are presented. A brief historical survey of polychaete research in the Kara Sea and physical and geographical characteristics of survey area are given. On the base of original materials and literature a list of polychaete worms’ species in the Kara Sea are described.

Distribution maps of the quantitative characteristics of polychaete communities - biomass, population density, as well as levels of species diversity in the Kara Sea originally are presented. Species complexes and their distribution in the water area are shown. Ecology of leading polychaetes species are described in detail. The connection between the space and temporal differences of species composition, as well as between quantitative indicators of polychaete communities and environmental factors variability are determined.
Zhichkin A.P. Atlas of Russian cod fishing in the Barents Sea (1977-2006)
Murmansk: Radica, 2009. 212 p.

The present atlas is based on the analysis of long-term material (30 years old) fishing activities of the Russian fishing fleet in waters of the Barents Sea ecosystem. The Atlas shows geography of Russian cod fishery (as the main species of fishing) in the Barents Sea for the period of 1977 to 2006. Bottom topography and fishing options are given on every map.

The distribution of commercial concentrations, ice extent in the Barents Sea and adjacent waters in the middle of each month are shown on the atlas maps. The thermal type of year (in accordance with the thermal state of the Barents Sea in the 0-200 m layer, in the main branch of Murmansk stream at the Kola Transect) are marked on the annual maps. In addition, schemes of cod commercial concentrations migration in the different thermal periods of water constructed by the author are shows. The atlas materials could be useful for reference purposes to solve task complex of fishing oceanology and fishing activities in practice.
Innovation technologies for monitoring of natural processes in the interaction zone of fresh and marine waters (bioindication)
Apatity: MMBI KSC RAS, 2009. 262 p. ISBN 978-5-91137-084-8.

The characteristic of the current state of marine biological communities by selected indicator species was given. Changes due to intensive human activities over the last years were marked. A kompartmentalnaya trophodynamic model of marine ecosystems and a multi-level system of bioindicators for monitoring (current, short-term, long-term) were given. Environmental security-sensitive areas in the estuarial areas were detected on the base of the ecosystems state and biocenosis activity. Methodological recommendations for monitoring were given.

The book is intended to a wide range of experts in the field of ecology, aquaculture, oceanology, environmental protection, program development and quality environment control of marine oil and gas exploration areas, port facilities, marine aquaculture, and other directions of economic activity in the estuarial areas of Russian Seas.
