From June 30 to July 5, the XVIII International Scientific-Practical Conference of the Russian Society for Ecological Economics (ROEE) "National Ecological-Economic and Social Interests in the Era of Grand Challenges" was held in Apatity on the basis of the Kola Science Centre RAS. The event was dedicated to discussing current issues of global, national, and regional environmental policy, sustainable development of territories and economic sectors, including the problems, prospects, indicators, and goals of sustainable development for the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation. MMBI was represented at the conference by MMBI RAS Plankton Laboratory Principal Researcher Anatoly Shavykin with a presentation on "Improving Russian Regulatory Legal Requirements for Plans to Prevent and Respond to Oil Spills at Sea," and Researcher Andrei Karnatov, who presented the report "Russia's Preparedness for Oil Spill Response at Sea – Problems of Regulatory Legal Support".
