On June 3-7, 2024, the XXX All-Russian Conference "Coastal Zone of Russian Seas in the 21st Century" was held at Lomonosov Moscow State University, dedicated to the 270th anniversary of the university. The conference was organized by the "Marine Coasts" Working Group under the scientific and methodological guidance of the Oceanology, Atmospheric Physics and Geography Section of the Earth Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences (the "Marine Coasts" Working Group), the Faculty of Geography of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Russian Geographical Society.
The conference was opened by the Chairman of the Program Committee, Academician Gennady Matishov, Doctor of Geographical Sciences, and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Professor Stanislav Ogorodov, Doctor of Geographical Sciences.
Senior Researcher Svetlana Malavenda, Candidate of Biological Sciences, presented a report "Current State of Phytocenoses in the Littoral Zone of the Murman Coast of the Barents Sea." The report reflected the results of studies on marine vegetation in the Kola Bay, Pechenga, Teriberka, Ivanovskaya, Zelenetskaya, and several other bays of the Murman Coast. The research was conducted as part of the State Assignment of the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute (MMBI) from 2021 to 2023. Additionally, presentations were made about the complex of coastal expeditionary research conducted by MMBI from 2021 to the present, including systematic and regular observations by MMBI researchers of algae, birds, fish, mollusks, and other invertebrates, as well as assessments of pollutant levels in the coastal zone of the Murman Coast.
