Traditional school of young scientists in marine biology took place on the basis of the scientific and educational center "Marine ecosystems" created by Murmansk Marine Biological Institute KSC RAS, FSEI HPE "Murmansk State Technical University" (Biology department) and FSBSE "PINRO" from February 27 to March 2, 2016. This year, the school was devoted to the methodology and systematization of knowledge in the field of marine biology and was named "Trajectory of career in Marine biology". Traditionally, the school was attended by leading scientists of MSTU, Murmansk Marine Biological Institute and PINRO, listeners were students and graduate students of the Murmansk State Technical University, the Murmansk Marine Fishing College n.a. I.I. Mesyatsev and students of specialized biological classes of secondary schools of the Murmansk city.
Workshop "Experiment set-up and conducting" was organized on the base of Murmansk Marine Biological Institute, March 2, 2016. Lecturers were leading researcher of algology laboratory candidate of pharmaceutical sciences E.D. Obluchinskaya and senior researcher of oceanography and radioecology laboratory candidate of geographical sciences I.S. Usyagina. Leading specialists of the Institute spoke about the organization and carrying out experimental research in the field of studying the influence of surrounding environment on the Barents Sea aquatic organisms. The stages of model research studies of the environmental influence factors on the content of polysaccharides in the Barents Sea algae and assessment of pollution with artificial radionuclides in the Barents Sea cod have been considered in detail together with the students. Researches of the algology laboratory M.P. Klinduh and senior researcher of the oceanography and radioecology laboratory D.A. Valuiskaya conducted the practical part of works for students. In the laboratories of the Institute, students reviewed how the equipment is used for sample preparation, and analytical instruments.
