The concept of marine spatial planning includes data recording, both on different uses of marine area, and state of marine environment. This information, including solutions developed during the intersectoral discussion, is then used to create a general plan for use of marine area, which should optimize economic growth on one hand and, on the other hand, contribute the preservation of marine environment.
During the seminar it is also planned to briefly discuss international legislative framework and national law enforcement practices in the field of marine spatial planning. Possibilities and prospects for further cross-border cooperation in developing optimal joint solutions in the field of marine spatial planning in the Arctic will also be considered.
