Matishov Dmitry G.
Doctor of Geographical Sciences, Corresponding member of RAS in Earth sciences department, Deputy chairman of the Southern Scientific Center of RAS, Director of the Azov branch of Murmansk Marine Biological Institute KSC RAS, director-organizer of Institute of Arid Zones Sciences SSC RAS.
D.G. Matishov is known in this country and abroad as specialist in the field of marine science, one of radiation ecological oceanography founders. He developed new principles of radiological monitoring of environment and biota that allowed starting up large scale study of artificial isotopes migration and assimilation mechanisms in marine ecosystem of the Arctic, Subarctic and the Azov Sea in 1988-2003 years.
`D.G. Matishov is the author and co-author of nearly two hundred publications, including 14 monographs. His book “Radiation Environment oceanography” published in 2002 was awarded the Medal of Presidium of RAS for young scientists.
For his fruitful scientific activity D.G. Matishov was awarded by personal diplomas of KSC RAS and from 1996 till 2000 had state scholarship. He supervises graduate students and had already prepared two PhD.
By the Presidential Decree on the 4th of February 2006 was decorated with a Medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland 2nd class. He is included in the “first hundred” reserve of management staff under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation.
Publications of D.G. Matishov’s researches based on a synthesis of modern radiochemistry, oceanography and marine biology in prestigious journals: “Deep-Sea Res.”, "J. Environ. Radioactivity", "German. J. Hydrography", Radiation Protect. Dosimetry", Environmental Science end Technology" signify his international recognition. In 2003 he published the book "Radioecology in Northern European Seas" issued by "Springer".
D.G. Matishov is a member of two dissertation councils and editorial boards of the journals “Bulletin of Southern Scientific Center RAS” and “ Bulletin of Stavropol State University”. He is Chairman of SAC at the Department of Geography and Geoecology, St. Petersburg State University.
