The Rybachy and Sredny Peninsulas Nature Park, established on November 14, 2014, marked its decade with open lectures at Murmansk Arctic University (MAU). Attendees included students of ecology, history, and tourism from MAU, Murmansk Marine Fishing Industrial College, and the Service Technology College.
"These peninsulas are a place of power — both for their heroic WWII defense (dubbed the ‘Granite Battleship’ by defenders) and their unique ecosystems," emphasized Park Director Alexander Loktev.
MMBI senior researcher Ph.D. (Biology) Svetlana Malavenda spoke on the region’s natural history, while Ph.D. (Geography) Denis Moiseev (MMBI Deputy Director for Science and Chairman of the Murmansk Branch of the Russian Geographical Society) and RGO member Sergey Goncharov shared expedition insights. Lectures also covered the area’s military history.
